The inspiration for this piece came from an early morning sunrise drive - leaving the house in the dark in search of the beautiful scenes to be had here in Maine. This was a frigid, cold morning. I wanted to capture the feeling of winter while also capturing the warm glow from the sun. I worked large - on 24x36 sanded board - my favorite surface.
