I've been watching two bald eagles at the OR zoo which were rescued after sustaining injuries, including mistreatment and the loss an eye for this one. This male would never show his good eye - perhaps protecting it, but one day, he turned, and when he looked at me, I saw him in all his glory, "Still Standing"! I decided to paint him, wanting to show others the beauty I saw.
