The painting was done of one of the pullouts on The Blue Ridge Parkway. The color that year was amplified and the time of year I saw it (2019 Oct.) gave the distinct impression of a blazing orange yellow star in the treetops. The original landscape architected, Frederick Law Olmstead, was asked to go much farther in influence than the immediate grounds of Biltmore Estate, moving into what we call The Blue Ridge Mountains. It was when I saw this star in the treetops, that I took a picture or two for reference, and later after buying a video and a book on that man, that I discovered he may have actually influenced it's design.
Neither the book or video mentioned a star being planned, so one wonders, if he did it, was it guided, or a coincidence? I like to think it was planned since this man also planned other great gardens.
