Coming upon this scene in one of my favorite state parks, I felt compelled to recreate the mirror and glass-like quality of the water as it reflected the vibrant Fall colors of the foliage along the banks. The water was so clear and still, providing such a serene feeling in contrast to the dramatic leaf colors. The only sounds were of the birds and small creatures scurrying about their day. Civilization seemed far away. This painting began with a local color hard pastel /alcohol under painting and was finished with a variety of soft pastels.
