This piece was inspired by the teasing childrens' playground game of asking 'do you like butter' and holding a buttercup under someones chin to reflect the light of the yellow blossom. It's simultaneously sweet and sinister, and I enjoy exploring alternate sources of light in my work. I used Pan Pastel and sponges to block in the major shapes and Sennelier soft pastel and Caran D'ache pencil to refine and add detail.
