I spotted these beautiful coneflowers at an antique rose emporium. As I researched them, I found them to be the flower of the Echinacea plant which has medicinal purposes. The blooms also attract birds and pollinators, so it soon became a plant to have near my vegetable garden. This painting of them is completed on UART 400 paper with acrylic paint washed in by isopropyl alcohol, a thin layer of pumice gel, then finished with various hard and soft pastels.
